History

   

  • The Hertfordshire Association of Cricket Officials (‘Association’) also known as ‘HACO’ was formed in 1963 as the Hertfordshire Society of Cricket Umpires (HSCU) and was affiliated to the National body, the Association of Cricket Umpires (ACU).
     

  • In 1988, scorers were welcomed into the organisation and the name was changed to the Hertfordshire Society of Cricket Umpires & Scorers (HSCU&S).
     

  • In 2008, this changed again to the Hertfordshire Society of Cricket Officials (HSCO) and in November 2013 to the Hertfordshire Association of Cricket Officials (HACO).
     

  • When the Association was formed its primary aim was set on encouraging residents in the County to take up umpiring and scoring regardless of their ability or background from beginners to those aspiring to officiate at club and league cricket.

About Us!

  • The Hertfordshire Association of Cricket Officials (‘Association’) also known as ‘HACO’ was formed to promote umpiring and scoring in Hertfordshire. It’s beginnings can be traced back to 1963 (see History) with its primary aim set on encouraging residents of all ability in the County to take up umpiring and scoring from beginners through to those aspiring to officiate at Premier league cricket and beyond.
     

  • The Association has grown over time and is established within the Saracens Hertfordshire ECB Premier Cricket League, one of 29 ECB accredited Premier leagues in the country, and with Hertfordshire County Cricket.
     

  • The Association is recognised for its excellent training and education programme and delivering the official Association of Cricket Officials (ACO) curriculum. Its panel of ECB accredited tutors deliver an extensive programme of training, development, continuous professional development (CPD) events, as well as coaching & mentoring with organised on & off field observations, performance monitoring and exchange programmes with other counties and leagues.
     

  • The  Panel consist of over 90 active umpires and scorers. The Association also boasts of a number of umpires who have gone on to enlist on the ECB National Panel enabling  members to enhance their learning and development by drawing on the collective experience, knowledge and best practices from those senior umpires.
     

  • With its close association with the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League, the Association serves over 100 cubs in Hertfordshire and sees to over 1000 fixtures/appointments every season, with appointments to the Saracens Hertfordshire ECB Premier and Championship divisions, Division 1 ,2A and 2B, as well as to various National, Regional, County and Schools matches.
     

  • In  addition to structured training and development events, the Association also hosts a number social events throughout the year, and produces regular newsletters to its members. The Association welcomes new members, details of which can be found on the Membership page.
